Pasta Bolognese Recipe

Pasta Bolognese Recipe

Bolognese is no doubt the favorite of pasta sauces - enjoy this savory healthful version!



1 pound ground beef eye of round

1/4 cup each: chopped onion, carrot, celery

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 can each: reduced-sodium tomato sauce,

reduced-sodium whole tomatoes, undrained, chopped

1/4 cup dry red wine or tomato juice

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

12 ounces spaghetti, cooked, warm


Cook ground beef in lightly greased medium saucepan over medium heat until browned, 5 to 8 minutes, drain well and crumble. Add onion, carrot, celery, garlic, Italian seasoning, and nutmeg to saucepan, saute until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes with liquid, and wine, heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, until thick sauce consistency, about 15 minutes. Stir in salt and pepper. Serve over spagehetti.
