Wine-Braised Cabbage Recipe4-6 servings
Ingredients: 3/4 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper 3 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon each: crushed caraway and anise seeds 1 medium heat cabbage, thinly sliced 1/2 cup each: canned reduced-sodium vegetable broth, dry white wine 2 slices diced bacon, cooked crisp, drained Salt and pepper, to taste |

Method: Saute onion, green pepper, garlic, caraway, and anise seeds in lightly greased large saucepan 3 to 4 minutes. Add cabbage, vegetable broth, and wine, heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until cabbage is wilted, about 5 minutes. Simmer, uncovered, until cabbage is tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in bacon, season to taste with salt and pepper. |
