Potatoes Gratin Recipe8 servings
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons margarine or butter 3 tablespoons flour 1 3/4 cup fat-free milk 2 ounces light pasteurized processed cheese, cubed 1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese Salt and pepper, to taste 2 pounds Idaho potatoes, peeled, sliced 1/4 cup thinly sliced onion Ground nutmeg, to taste |
Method: Melt margarine in medium saucepan, stir in flour and stir over medium heat 2 minutes. Whisk in milk and heat to boiling, boil, whisking until thickened, about 1 minute. Remove from heat, add cheeses, stirring until melted. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Layer 1/3 of the potatoes and onion in greased 2-quart casserole, sprinkle lightly with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Spoon 2/3 cup sauce over. Repeat layers 2 times. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees 45 minutes, uncover and bake until potatoes are tender and browned, 20 to 30 minutes. |
