Mushrooms with Sour Cream Recipe

12 ounces shiitake or cremini mushrooms, stems discarded, sliced

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1/4 cup dry white wine or reduced-sodium vegetable broth

1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves

1/2 cup fat-free sour cream

Salt and cayenne pepper, to taste


Saute mushrooms, onion, and garlic in lightly greased large skillet 3 to 4 minutes. Add wine and thyme, heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until mushrooms are tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Cook, uncovered, on low heat until mushrooms are dry and well browned, about 20 to 25 minutes. Stir in sour cream, season to taste with salt and pepper.
