Hot Cheese Bavarian Recipe

2 servings



2 slices rye bread

2 teaspoons margarine or butter

1/4 cup each: drained sauerkraut, thinly sliced cabbage

2 slices tomato

4 ounces sliced reduced-fat mozzarella cheese


Spread bread with margarine, top unbuttered sides with combined sauerkraut and cabbage. Top with tomato slices and cheese, cook, covered, over medium low heat in medium skillet until bread is browned on the bottom and cheese is melted, 4 to 5 minutes.
