Cardamom Cut-Outs Recipe5 dozen cookies
Ingredients: 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided 3 tablespoons fat-free milk 1 egg yolk 3/4 teaspoon ground cardamom, divided 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt |

Method: Beat shortening, 1 cup sugar, milk, egg yolk, and 1/2 teaspoon cardamom in medium bowl until well blended, mix in flour and cut into rounds or decorative shapes with 2-inch cutter. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake on greased baking sheets at 375 degrees until browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Combine remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cardamom, sprinkle over warm cookies. Cool on wire racks. |
