"Little Pants" Biscuits Recipe

18 biscuits

 

Ingredients:

1/4 cup vegetable shortening

1/2 cup sugar, divided

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons fat-free milk, divided

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method:

Beat shortening and 6 tablespoons sugar in medium bowl until smooth. Beat in combined flour, baking powder, and salt alternately with 1/2 cup milk to form soft dough.

 

Roll dough on floured surface into a rectangle, a scant 1/2-inch thick. Cut dough into 18 trapezoid shapes, 2 1/2 inches on the bottom, 1 1/2 inches on the top, and 3 inches on the sides. Cut out a small wedge of dough from the bottom, center of each piece to form "pants legs".

 

Brush biscuits with remaining 2 tablespoons milk, sprinkle with combined remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees on greased cookie sheet until browned, 15 to 20 minutes.
